The Missing Princess by Duy Truong Photography
Anastasia Nikolaevna was the Grand Duchess of Russia born in 1901. She was one of the princesses to the last Tsar of Russia before the country was overturned to communism. Her family was captured and taken elsewhere as prisoners. In 1917, they died in a massacre; shot to death. She was 17.
Anastasia is most known for the stories of her surviving the shooting and living in secrecy. There were numerous searches for her and people claiming to the Grand Duchess. Thanks to DNA technology, we discovered that Anastasia did not survive the shooting.
In 1981, Anastasia and her family were canonized as holy martyrs by the Russian Orthodox Church. In 2000, they were canonized as passion bearers.
